Questions, answered

What is WordMend?+

WordMend is a quick word game built from big letter tiles. Each game deals five scrambled words, and you mend each one by moving its letters back into the right order. It has been on the App Store since 2011.

How do I play?+

Tap Play. Drag the tiles to the correct spot one at a time until the word is right. Tip: if the letters could make more than one word, try another arrangement to find the right one.

How does scoring work?+

Each word is worth 100 points a letter, so a five-letter word starts at 500. Every second on the clock takes a point away. A Clue reveals the next letter of the word: the first clue costs 30 points, and each further clue in the same word costs 15 more than the last.

Can I play without the timer?+

Yes. Turn off Timer in Settings for a relaxed game. Untimed bests are kept separately from timed ones, so your records stay fair.

What does Max Letters do?+

It sets the longest word a game can deal, from four to eight letters. Each setting has its own leaderboard.

How do I use Game Center or Google Play Games?+

Game Center (on iPhone and iPad) and Google Play Games (on Android) are off by default. Tap Connect in Settings to sign in and post scores and awards. Disconnect stops WordMend using them. To sign out of Game Center itself, use the Settings app on your device. On Android, sign out in the Google Play Games app.

What are Extras?+

Extras are optional one-time purchases. The Cosmetic Bundle adds colour themes, tile styles and alternate app icons. WordMend Plus includes everything in the bundle, plus themed word packs: Animals, Food and Sports. Word pack games don't count toward the leaderboards, so the leaderboards stay fair. There is also a tip jar if you'd like to say thanks. The game itself is fully playable without any of them.

I got a new device. How do I get my Extras back?+

Open Settings, then Extras, and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the same Apple Account or Google account you bought them with.

Does WordMend need an account?+

No. Your settings and best scores are stored on your device. Game Center and Google Play Games are only used if you choose to connect them.

Where can I get WordMend?+

WordMend is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android phones and tablets.
